WTB: Tronic 300w heater, one or two of them

Postby Johnny Boy » Mon Aug 06, 2012 12:54 am

Used is okay but condensation in the glass kills me.

Not looking for the ersatz "E" series or whatever. I want some true, old-school, made-in-Italy Hagen/Fluval Tronic.

Hit me up.

* U.S. voltage/Hz if the difference would still apply around here.

If you don't find the one you're looking for, I switched to using Aqueon Pro heaters when Marineland Stealth heaters started blowing up and were recalled.
Submersible, shatterproof, auto shut off on low water conditions.

I know what you mean. The Fluval Tronics were probably the best heater ever made. Since they were so good, Fluval stopped making them (boneheaded management), instead making the Fluval M's, which are no where as sturdy or trustworthy (shows who makes the decisions at Fluval.... the marketing department).

Look at the Aqueon Pros (as Tom said). Made in Italy in the same factory that made the original Stealths (not the POS ones that explode).

If you want a glass heater, about the only choice these days would the the Eheim Jager.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. I'm too young to be such an old cuss, so I try to stay open to the new stuff.

I found a NOS Ebo LZ 250w, the green ones, that will probably fit the bill for one of the heaters. However, I'm not sure if those were rated the same as the TS or the new Eheims.

I'll still pine after some Tronics but I'll nab an Aqueon if I don't find one by set-up time.

Have you tried Ebay? or aquabid?

I'd say try posting a wanted ad on your local craigslist...but cl is being a bit useless lately.

Last time I checked, you could still find some of the Tronics at a couple of locations in Australia, but none in the US or Europe, although you may want to check AquaCave. Their website claims to have them in stock.

Tronics are a discontinued product. Shame.

I will shoot an email to aquacave.

Good grief, now I am noticing stubby versions versus long versions of the same wattages of Tronics. wtf man  Wish these companies would stick to one thing. You guys know what I'm talking about? Is it just me?

Oh, venom, yeah I've looked and will continue to :)

eBay is actually where I noticed the two different heater lengths. Check it out...the 100w has a few listings. Some are stubby, some are longer. For both, the packages definitely specify 100w.

Incidentally, there is a 100w ending soon that would be an awesome score for someone who could use it.

Found two 150w...even better than a single 300 :lthumb: :lthumb:

The 150s will serve my immediate needs, but I'm still down for hoarding a couple 300s.
