Livestock update: 12/5/18

I came home with a few additions today. I bought a yellow angel. It's a dwarf and as per the name is all yellow. I'm fairly certain this is C. heraldi but I'm no marine ID expert. As soon as I figure out a good way to host pics I'll get some up. I also added a lawnmower blenny to replace the bicolor that I lost, and picked up a banggai cardinal fish as well.

So stock list now is 2 clowns, 1 orchid dotty back, 1 yellow angel, 1 banggai cardinal and 1 LM blenny. Fish are just in the tank within the hour and all seem to be doing well. The most timid predictably is the banggai cardinal. He is just sort of hanging in the corner. The angel is all over the place checking everything out and the blenny is in and out of the rock work. I think he'll make his home in there somewhere.

Glad to hear that things are starting to bounce back. What sort of CUC do you have in the tank? Maybe it is time to put in another order with reefcleaners? I definitely want to see some photos of the new fish, banggai cardinals are my favorite in the trade!

I have been using flickr for my photo hosting. Just upload and under the share option they have a BBCode option to get a link for embedding the photos.

I have nassarius snails, bumblebee snails a few hermits and of course now the lawnmower blenny.

I could probably grab a few more snails and maybe another crab or two, but I don't really consider my tank a large bioload tank. I think if I can get a biopellet reactor up and running the algae will dwindle pretty quickly. But we'll see what happens here. :)

Got the glass tops from my bro over the weekend. NOTICEABLE difference in evaporation. I cannot really accurately equate what I was topping off on a daily basis, but it was a lot of water - If I filled my return chamber in the morning before I went to work by the time I got home again, I would almost be sucking air from the return pump... I would lose 6-7 inches of water to evap. Now with the tops on, I lose 1-2 inches. Huge difference. I did my last water change all on RODI, and top offs will be a lot less frequent now.

Hopefully this helps with algae accumulation. If not my next step will be to grab a biopellet reactor.
