Was wondering if anyone has used this and what they thought of it. My python system is good for water changes but doesn't get as much debri in the gravel out as I'd like.

No experience with them, but they look like too much of a pain to me. I prefer to not recirculate that water back to the tank. I just use ordinary gravel vacs and discharge them into a 5g pail or large storage tote.

It must be an good product if an "doctor" recommend it ;)

In reality, this is just a toy. If you want real suction get yourself a hard plastic bottle, saw the bottom off and stuff a 1 inch hose through the bottle neck, i use as example this to change water in my tanks and you get anything up with this.

If you want a returning System you would need a returning System. Put another bottle on the other side of the hose and wraped with a cotton sock. Put it in a Trashfilme can and use a returning pump with a cotton filter and you are fine.

Still the better alternative is to use new water.

I use eheims version and i like it for a sand substrate, helps keep the samd looking good between wc's. All the poop settles in one spot so i find it quicker to use. To be honest though indont use it much anymore since i started dosing the tank with ridx

Hahahha didnt think this up myself definitly not smart enough. Its basically a probiotics treatment. Supposed to improve the health and immune systems of the fish and break down poop/ditreus/organics makes filter maintenence easier. I cant attest to the health improvements but definitly the filter maintenence. I went from cleaining my hobs weekly to every 3 to 4 weeks

Yeah, a lot of us feed Hikari Bio Gold + pellet food for it's probiotics. (gotta be the gold PLUS). It does seem to produce less turds. In regards to the septic stuff, never heard of it for this application.

It is true Freshy. There are some serious fish-keepers that use it and other brands to help break down waste and swear by it. I've been meaning to try it for a long time but I can be stubborn when it comes to changing things, even if I think it's for the best. One thing though - it may not be great for gravel because it can make vaccuming more difficult with smaller waste particles sinking into your gravel, but if I had sand I'd want to try it. I believe there are brands made for use in the aquarium, but regular Rid-X appears to do the job just as well. I think your reaction might be similar to mine when I first heard about it. Rid-X? The septic tank stuff? In your fish tank?

Mine as well, its not a new ideal, been debated for awhile, past few years at least. Biggest benefit have read is a reduction in sludge in canisters. I tend to poo poo the water is crystal clear now. In my world if your water was not clear before you have filtration issues, not a lack of pro-biotics issue, and you do your do diligence on vacuuming your sub-straight should not be an issue, it seems to me that folks are using it as an excuse to maintain less. I love the ideal of less sludge in my canisters, but not going to change my maintenance routine on them,
