1600gals of South and Central American cichlids. Some with just a "wee" bit of attitude!

They're all beautiful and healthy looking!

What kind of fish are on the 1 and 6 pictures? One looks kinda like an archerfish...

Not Green Terror but Goldsaum. I also had an Datnoid, slow growers but an good fry eater unlike Oscars.

If feeded mostly fresh carnivore they grow quite good but not on syntetical food.
The one i keeped eted like a 1000 <1" Convicts and i sold him with around 12" with 2.5 years

Thank you. He is actually a Lutino, has slight grey pigments in his fins. 4yrs old, about 13ins.

Oscar care is neither difficult nor complicated. There are 3 keys that constitute 95% of the battle. Clean water, tankspace and quality diet. Properly address those factors, and its almost impossible to fail. Clean water is CRITICAL. I change approx. 75% volume on all my cichlid tanks every 3-5 days, depending on tank stock(bioload). My Oscars all live in 6-7ft tanks, 180-265 gals. Heavy(almost insane.lol) filtration.

Yeah. Lots of water changes with a 52 gallon bowfront. I usually do one every 2-3 days. I take 25-30% water out (Goal is to get rid of all of the solid discharge he leaves me). ;)

The problem with taking too much more water out is that he doesn't have 'much' room to hide when he's disturbed (rarely is). I've considered getting different ornaments, but instead I'm going to save up for a larger tank for him.
Maybe a custom 175-200 gallon? My plans were a 6ft long, 2ft tall, and 3ft wide aquarium. Acrylic so I can drill it without worry. Then again, I've only been lightly digging into this.

For now I'm just working on getting a filter that can pick up the smaller, broken down debris that he kicks up sometimes. (My Marineland C-220 has NO suction whatsoever  ).
