A tank that size..... shrimp is going to be your best bet. If I did not already have twelve tanks up and running I would have a shrimp tank........ but I'm needing to downsize on the fish tanks so I can squeeze in more fishing. I got smallmouth up in the Ozarks calling my name. Can you hear them? They are saying....."Hey.... Kmuda, Come Catch Me"

Time flies so fast! 14 weeks already!

I love the colors he is still showing. I recently found a shop that sells NLS products. Once Leo finishes his current Hikari Cichlid Gold, I'll try the NLS.
I also give him bloodworms once in a while. I haven't fed him vegetables/fruits or live fish yet. No signs of sickness since last update, which is good :D

Switched substrate to a finer one (but bigger than sand), picking poop is much easier.

He's grown quite a bit, I will be needing a bigger fish net for him.

Thats a superb specimen of Juvie Oscar. In his growth spurt period... see the white trim around the dorsal and tail? More than his 4 or 8wk pics. Thats one indication of a genetically strong and very healthy Oscar. And, seems to be holding that pattern for the most part. Just all round fine Oscar. Well done!
1600gals of South and Central American cichlids. Some with just a "wee" bit of attitude!

He's still in his Juvie colors but I don't think there will be a major change down the road. Looks like you scored the Tiger Oscar everyone wants to score when they get one.

TIL about the white trims. Thanks! Will make sure to do my part to keep him strong and healthy all the time!

If you are gonna spend large for NLS, better still is Northfin. Not to bash NLS, its great feed, but Northfin is better. I am having great results with Northfin, over 2yrs now, where my fish generally didnt like NLS. NLS is also a far denser food, and will get into filters and cling to substrate and deco should your fella be a sloppy eater and leave crumbs behind. Less waste production with Northfin as well. Good reports from users of Hikari BioGold, I personally havent tried it
