That fish was 28 years kicking, a true warrior. Don't be sad, he had a good and long life.

On a scientific side beside your good water and food maintaince do you think also never going through breeding and fighting stress Situations increased his life time that far?

Is the chapter kissing gourami now closed for you or do you wanna keep one or some more again in the future?

Toom, I will not be alive for another 30 years. I don't see getting a fish that will outlive me.

He had some fighting stress over his life. The first year he was in a tank with a sibling, which he literally harassed to death. Then he tangled with the demon spawn Gold Gourami who pissed me off so bad I gave him to the cats. Then he had the period where he was housed with an Oscar and 18" Red Tailed Catfish.... both of which he somehow dominated. Add to that odd times with various other cichlids. But if you add all those times up it would total out at about a year of his 28 years.

He never had a breeding opportunity.

I'm sorry for your loss. What a super long life for a fish! Amazing!

That kisser had a good life for sure. The worst part IMO will be not hearing any more updates about him/her.

My pink kissing gourami is still kicking after a year or so in my 29g with a few tiger barbs and hatchets. My kids found him nearly dried out on the carpet 4 months ago or so. I didn't think he'd pull out of that one, but he bounced back like nothing happened! I'd plan to move him to a more suitable setup, but don't have one available at the moment.
75g a tiger oscar and a green severum
55g community tank with plants
