That thing is insane. Close to 9 feet and it looks like it's mouth is like 2 feet wide. :woohoo:

In the end he told that he catched him on a dozen worms and a piece of squid from boat on vertical jigging.
He also used a Wallerholz. That is a bended piece of wood with a shovel head on the end that makes a noise that let Wels catfish come after you like Flipper with his Horn. Also he was released back.

That thing is a real gaint and the right now new offical record for the longest Wels. There are still unconfirmed fishes from the 17 and 18 centery where they told from 10 to12 feet fishes.
Time will tell if this guys may become as big again as they said or this is close to end an max out.

Looks like catching a whale!!! Doesn't seem to put up much of a fight. Certainly some weight in that fish though.

Wels catsfish are very active, more as you think, they travel daily 1 to 2 dozen km river up or down and a fish like this propperly has 220 to 240 pounds.

Without propper gear like a fitting rod and 100 to 120 pound test braid or 0.5 to 0.6 mono you basicly has no Chance to get him up.
