What variety do you believe him to be? His color changes are awesome, at the top of the tank he frequently goes light almost brown looking. Other times he's incredibly dark black with goldish cream stripes. I'm going to upload pictures from time to time in the photo gallery tab from now on.

I doubt that he will out 100%. The gaps between the single rays looks very wide. IN some cases it needed to clip the dorsal, analog or back fin clean and streight to let it regrow to 100%.
Still i would wait to do it another 3 to 4 weeks but if you wanna a fish with fully intact fins still as he is small because clipping an big fish is not as easy. If they are small and they fit in your hand it's done in an blinkt of an eye.
