Needing to replace an old led light that is done for and looking for suggestions. I don't really want or need anything fancy for this tank as far as lighting so I don't need anything crazy.

What's up with the old fixture? If it's just for general lighting, the sky is the limit. I've got a $30 eBay 48" LED strip light over my oscar and severum tank. It's been going strong for over 3yrs now, 8hrs/day. It's a white/blueish light, in the 10000K color/temp range.

I've also got a 48-60" Current Satellite Freshwater LED+ over my 55g with plants. This fixture was more like $130 shipped. It will grow low/mid light plants. Very nice light with adjustable features.

The current satellites seem to be very popular from what I see elsewhere as well.

My on,y issue, and all three do it....any remote....any remote usd near them defaults them to high bright and scares the crap out of any fish in these tanks
Tv remotes
Cable remote

And the remote that comes with them is garbage/ cheap

But for the tank...great lights.
Lots of options.

+1 If there are no plants to keep alive and you are not home and the tank stays in an room with day Light you don't need light sources. It's only for us to see the fish better or for plant grow.

All my tank lights are on lamp timers, even the two tanks without plants. All are set on for ~8hrs/day. With backgrounds on the tanks, I can't see the fish well enough without the lights on.

That was also the Case on my basement tanks. The tanks was in pitch black. All the tanks had at first regular lights than I changed to 2.5 WATT LED Crees.

It was enough for light a single 20G just fine. Of course it is not a showcase light where your fish show full potential in coloration.
