TOPIC: 125-gallon aquarium with Albino Oscar and Red Sevr

125-gallon aquarium with Albino Oscar and Red Sevr 3 weeks 4 days ago #70886

Hi all,
I introduced a Red Sevrum about 7-8" in my new 125-gallon aquarium. An hour later I introduced my Albino Oscar 5-6" in the 125-gallon aquarium. The two were getting along for the few hours. However, the Red Sevrum has started to chase the Oscar. The Oscar is trying to get away from the Severum, but the Severum keeps looking for the Oscar....trying to nibble.

It's been less than 24 hours since they've been in the 125-gallon.

The Severum is a female and I don't know what the Oscar is.

Should I leave them in the aquarium hoping the chasing will stop or separate them?

Can you put in a divider? So they might be able to get used to each other without damage? It honestly sounds like it may not work...

I moved the Red Spot Sev to a 55G tank. She's all by herself there. My Oscar is happy in the 125G...that makes me happy. Just trying to figure out what fish I can introduce in the 55G with the Sev. Any ideas? Thanks.

I've never had a Sev, so hopefully people with more knowledge can chime in soon! :)

This will deffently change if the Oscar outgrows the severum in size and weight but tank space is another thing. Is this an 4 or 6 foot tank. An 4 x 2 x 2 maybe is 120G but will not allow more than one Oscar depending on footprint.
If you have more footprint in length and deep you should consider to stock may 2 Paris of mesonautra cixhlids to split the Aggression and reduce later with that you prefer and what works.
A formular or success with big cichlids in small tanks don't exists. If we would talk with something in the 240G + Region this would be another story.
We need to stop talking about the people as if they were the crown of creation.
