Just a few quick phone shots of the little guys. Growing at a good rate. All seem to have full bellies most of the time. I counted 26 last time, my wife counted 23, my son... 12 yellow transformers.... --his words... Eating heartily.

I did just recently move a ceramic cave into the 20g with them, full of an unknown number of 1/4inch long bristlenose babies and their father. I don't expect any issues but I will be watching.

It's about the 6 month mark for these guys at this point, and they have put on size rapidly. I've got one big guy that must be close to an inch already, and most are around 3/4 inch. Another few months and I will consider putting in a select few back into the 125g community tank to live out their lives with the older group.

The rest will be sold. Time to move on. I'll snap some pics soon.

congrats :)

one of my Aceis was holding a couple of weeks ago. She wouldn't eat and pretended to eat, but it didn't work out. That's okay, she's back to normal with her eating habits. She was definitely holding because I saw some eggs in her mouth.
65 gallon
2 yellow tail aceis
1 male cobue peacock
3 female cobue peacocks
1 male blood dragon
2 Synodontis lucipinnis

5.5 Gallon
Half moon Betta

I'm not familiar with African husbandry... do they hold the eggs? Mine didn't pick them up until they were wrigglers/free swimming. The eggs were laid on the rock, and then after a few days she scooped them up - at least I assume that's what happened, I didn't actually get to see it. But when I saw the fry in her mouth, they were able to sort of swim. Not with much direction or purpose, but they definitely were not eggs.

They are mouth brooders, they pick up the eggs and carry them around for three to four weeks.

Dang, that's a long time. My female was only 'holding' for a few days.

Guys, sorry these pictures are so crappy but they are still really tough to get sharp pics of. Once they put on some good size I'll get the nikon on them.

Big update here. Last week I let 6 of the baby geos go to a friend. He has an empty 40 breeder. After they hit 4-5 inches I recommended a 75-90g as a permanent home. I also moved 7 into the 125g. I saved the largest most colorful for myself. The two or three biggest are probably closing in on 2 inches, but the smallest is just over an inch if at all. I don't plan on keeping all 7 babies, I already have 5 adults in the tank, probably just 4-5 depending on what they look like. I plan to eventually cull the original female I have in the tank. She is still dealing with bouts of myelomas and it's starting to wear on her. That would potentially put me at 9 geos which is plenty for the 125g.
