Thanks! He's coming along quite nicely. I've got some better pics from the DSLR coming so keep your eyes peeled. :)

Was it there first try? What do you plan? Keep the fry or let nature do its thing and feed less?

First batch. That's why I'm so surprised at how big this clutch is. Not really sure what the plan is. Maybe just let nature do its thing this first time around. I think I'd like to separate them after this batch though. They are both still very young to breed so often. I'd like for them to put on more size yet.

might be a good ideal, let the female spend more time growing than making eggs. I often think my female jag be bigger if had not let her do the hokey pokey so much.

I agree pops. Unfortunately I have to dedicate a whole tank to her as well. She nearly wiped out a pair of Krobia xinguensis a few months ago when I had her in their tank temporarily. I was worried the pair would bully her since they were established in the tank.... a few days later both of the krobia were shredded. :/

She's a feisty one. Lol.

Well good news bad news. We'll start with the good news. The pair has been amazing together. They don't chase or nip or bother one another at all. They both seem equally devoted to caring for the fry. They are also both eating every day, I think this helps cope with the stress of breeding/rearing fry process. I'm surprised at the over night change. One day I thought he might kill her, the next they are the perfect pair.

The bad news. The female jumped. Pretty tough blow. I found her dried up on the floor a few feet from the tank. I think he snapped and pushed her to jump. I know that isn't common, but the male is still super protective of the fry, even in her absence. They were doing so well.....
