Going to get started on a sump for my 150. The ac's are doing a decent job with bio but i had to sacrifice mech. Ideally i would do a herbie set up on a drilled tank but removing the fish and drilling are not options.

Gonnq start getting supplies today, but am stuck on a pump. Im thinking of either going with a jebao dct 12000 or a wavelinedc1000II. I have jebao on another tank and like it very quiet (the ac 110's are louder) im a fan of the dc pumps as they are adjustable and use little electricity.

Anyone have any experience with these two pumps ? Specifically the waveline ? I cant find how much gph it would flow on the lower settings.

I dont like any of the sock holders being sold for the 7 inch socks so i may try and build one with egg crate.

Any suggestions are welcomed

Decide ld to just go with what i know and ordered the jebao. Probably should have just spent the $$$ and chise waveline but we'll see. Also went with the eshopps pf1800. Its rated for 1600 gph but i only plan on going around 1200gph so i should have a decent margin for error

Does the eshops overflow have a connector for an aqua-lifter? is so, get one (aqua-lifter). If not, plan on DIY'ing your own connector. An aqua lifter goes a very long way towards improving safety of an overflow box.

No it doesnt. The cpr model has one. You reminded me about that. I planed on getting around to trying a diy aqua lifter but never got around to doing it.

Have you ever done one ?

I have an aqua-lifter running on my Tidepool SOS (yes, I'm an old fart) overflow. I just drilled the appropriate sized hole on the J tube and then glued in an airline fitting. My Tidepool has the overflow siphon that runs the length of the overflow. Looks like your eshops uses a tube. You should be able to get by with nothing more than an airline hose run up into the tube (other side connected to an aqua-lifter) As long as it the airline tube makes it over the U part (hump) of the tube (when coming from the back towards the tank) then it should serve its purpose just fine.

Oh yeah that makes sense. So the aqualifter sucks aor right ? But what stops it from sucking water ? Or does it suck water and get drained back into the tank ?

Yes, the aqua lifter sucks... as it acts like a vacuum.... not "Sucks" like "Fluval Sucks".

One end of the Aqualifter goes into the tube. The other end can go back into the tank or, in my case, I have it going back into the front end of my overflow.

Hmmm.... a 55 gives you lots of options. The waiting will be worth it.

I know. Patience was never one ofy strong suits lol.

Gonna do an open sump no baffles just filter socks and bio.

The 55 definitly would give me more room for error. With the back flow of water when the system is turned off
